Im just finishing up the first chapter and its like playing a Stephen King novel...and an intense one at that!

Ive been waitin for this game for like 4 years and Im surprised there isnt more noise about it here.



Everyones, obviously, playing S3  now...but I needed a break from the janky release of S3.  From the let down of CAP to online being wrecked to every spot feelin the damn same...I figured Id shoot through Alan Wake and which would make me want S3 a little more while that frustration subsided.  

That and everyone is playin that damn Cowboy game.  Im sure its a stellar game, but Cowboy lore...

...is...kinda...meh.



Anyway...more updates as I get further in Alan Wake...spoilarz free of course.

I already finished Alan Wake like a month ago. Brilliant game ... I shall comment no further for risk of spoiling it. 

Also, RDR is also brilliant.

So is it just me or is the flash grenade section in chapter 3 a total bitch?

...NVM...just got passed chapter 3.  I kept missing a flashbang cache before and also was able to run to a safe point and avoid like 5 guys...so then I had a ton of them.

Cool chapter but waaaay long.  It got to the point where it didnt seem like it was even episodic.


Well...on to chapter 4...entitled...TRUTH.

Sounds cool...I just hope its a little less actiony than the last 3.  I needs a break from killing hordes of shadow guys with my Mag Lite and revolver.

Just beat this short shorty of a game...and while I liked it...all though the action parts got a little repetitious...

WTF happened at the end?  I love movies like that (Mulholland Drive) that end abstract and cryptic, but not games.

I mean the majority of the time Im running around flashlighting and shooting demons...and then you beat it and its sooooo far fetching and abstract thats its kind of appalling that they think anyone will understand it or even interpret it...of course there are those who think they have a grasp on it to do both...but in the end, its just wild guessing.

Did you understand any of it DVC?

I loved the game...some parts more than others...but the ending was supposed to unconfuse the gamer over the more confusing earlier scenes...instead it just made my head explode.

Well, they say that the ending isn't actually the ending, it's the first part of a series of AW's. There are going to be DLC episodes & maybe sequels. Some also say that the ending to the first game is open ended so you can interpret it how you want.

But from the ending for the first game, the way I understood it is that Alan jumped into the lake sacrificing himself thus setting his wife free. So like he's now dead & trapped by the darkness but his wife is now alive and free.

I get the feeling that we will be playing Mr Scratch while Alan is still tapping away at the typewriter.



...but DLC can fuck off...I beat this game in a weekend...thankfully it was a rental, but paying 20 or so more dollars to get little snippets of extra confusing story is dumb.

Really thought about buying this, which is seems like you recommend it for sure.

I've been a huge fan of indigo prophecy/Fahrenheit and Heavy Rain and this game looks like it goes across the exact lines of those, pretty much an intense interactive story.

But is this game about choice, like heavy rain, or just a major goal, DESTROY THE DEVIL KING sort of thing.

Dude, it's in no way shape for form anything like any of those games. It's just a straight up horror/thriller/action game, there are no choices, just a linear story. The story is supposed to be the main attraction of the game though, but as you can probably tell from the posts above it's not all THAT good.

Worth a rent though, I wouldn't buy it.

I know I added a bunch of blah blah's around the messege I made referring to any sort of relivance with Indigo prophecy, but I did put what I was meaning to ask in my first post.

pretty much an intense interactive story.

I said it as a statement, but I was asking as well in reference to alan wake.
Since you answered it, I feel I must buy this.

Yeah...there are no choices...buts its a cool dark, suspenseful mystery...much like Stephen King or Twin Peaks.

Its a must play IMO...but not a must buy.  Its short and once you are done with it...its over.



Also...Im gonna tag this thread with spoiler warnings because it of the middle conversation.
